Title: Behind the Scenes: Crafting Social Media Content for Austin Monthly
[Opening Music]
Host 1: Hello, and welcome to PR Insights podcast! I'm Presley Lawson, and joining me today is my co-host, Lily Warmington. We're excited to dive into the world of social media and content creation with a special guest from Austin Monthly magazine. Welcome, Alex Vasut
Guest: Thank you for having me. I'm thrilled to be here.
Host 1: Of course we're so excited to have you here today at the PR Insights podcast. We want to know more about the PR world outside of college. As PR students we have learned vast amounts about social media, media planning, and content creation. We’re glad to have you here and to learn more about social media jobs and all it entails. My co-host and friend Lily is going to take it away with questions but thank you so much for all your wonderful PR insights and I cannot wait to hear what you have to say.
Host 2: Thank you for coming! To start off, could you tell our listeners a bit about yourself and your role at Austin Monthly?
Guest: Absolutely. I am Alex Vasut. I grew up in Gaveston, TX, went to high school at ball high and then I went to the University of Texas at AUstin and I majored in Public relations and minored in Business. Now I am a part of the social media team at Austin Monthly, where I help our team establish our presence across various social media platforms and curate engaging content to connect with our audience. So most of the time I honestly spend time going around trying different restaurants and cool spots in Austin. Taking pictures and transforming that experience into a social media representation of it, in order to teach our audience more about austin!
Host 1: Fascinating! Social media is such a dynamic space. Can you walk us through your process of creating content for Austin Monthly's social channels?
Guest: Certainly. It begins with understanding our audience and the content that resonates with them. I collaborate closely with our editorial team to identify key stories and visuals that we can leverage for social media. A lot of our audience is mainly looking at what to do in Austin and what events are going on. So most of our stuff includes going to these places and showing people why Austin loves them.
Host 2: Awesome, that is so interesting! Collaboration is key in any creative process. Once you have the content, what steps do you take to tailor it for different platforms?
Guest: Each platform has its own unique audience and requirements, so I adapt the content accordingly. For example, on Instagram, we focus on visually appealing images and engaging captions, whereas on Twitter, we emphasize concise messaging and timely updates.
Host 1: That's a super smart approach. With so much content out there, how do you ensure that Austin Monthly's magazine social media stands out?
Guest: well It's really all about storytelling and authenticity. We strive to create content that not only informs but also entertains and inspires our audience. By showcasing the diverse and vibrant culture of Austin, we set ourselves apart from the competition.
Host 2: Yeah I'd say Authenticity definitely resonates with audiences. Are there any particular challenges you face in managing Austin Monthly's social media presence?
Guest: One challenge is keeping up with the ever-changing landscape of social media algorithms and trends are always changing. It requires constant monitoring and adaptation to ensure our content remains relevant and visible to our audience.
Host 1: I totally agree. Adapting to change is crucial in the digital age and it’s always changing. How do you measure the success of Austin Monthly's social media efforts?
Guest: We track various metrics such as engagement rates, reach, and follower growth to gauge the effectiveness of our content. Additionally, we pay attention to feedback from our audience and use that insight to refine our strategy moving forward.
Host 2: Awesome! It's great to hear that you're data-driven in your approach, that's really important. Looking ahead, what are your goals for Austin Monthly's social media presence?
Guest: Our goal is to continue growing our following and fostering meaningful connections with our audience. We also have been aiming to explore new platforms and innovative ways to tell stories that capture the essence of Austin.
Host 1: That’s great! Well, Alex, it's been a pleasure speaking with you today. Before we wrap up, do you have any final thoughts or advice for aspiring social media creators?
Guest: Yes! I would encourage aspiring social media managers and creators to stay curious, stay creative, and never underestimate the power of storytelling. Embrace experimentation, be uncomfortable, learn from failures, and always. always put your audience first.
Host 2: Thank you once again, Alex, for sharing your insights with us, it’s been a pleasure.
Host 1: And lastly thank you to our listeners for tuning in. Be sure to subscribe for more enlightening conversations like this one. Until next time.
